This study investigates the management strategies for integrating agricultural and cultural tourism in
Koh Lad E Tan, Nakhon Pathom Province, Thailand, in the post-COVID-19 era. The primary objective is to
develop a sustainable community-based tourism model that harmonizes the island’s agricultural heritage with
its unique cultural traditions. The research seeks to: (1) examine the current state and potential of agricultural
and cultural tourism resources in Koh Lad E Tan; (2) assess community readiness and participation in
sustainable tourism development; (3) design strategic approaches for tourism management based on
sustainability principles; and (4) formulate guidelines for the development of Koh Lad E Tan as a model
sustainable tourism community.
A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative research.
Respondents include residents, entrepreneurs, government officials, and tourists, through surveys, in-depth
interviews, focus groups, and field observations. Statistical analyses (frequency, percentage, mean, standard
deviation, and inferential statistics) were used to evaluate perceptions and relationships among variables.
The findings indicate that tourism in Koh Lad E Tan is characterized by an integration of agricultural
and cultural identities, particularly through pomelo orchards, canal-based agriculture, temples, and local
festivals. Most visitors are domestic tourists seeking authentic, eco-friendly, and slow-travel experiences. The
study highlights the importance of community participation, local leadership, capacity building, and
sustainable resource management in fostering resilience and long-term benefits for residents.
The proposed management strategies emphasize collaboration between public, private, and
community sectors; responsible tourism planning; and diversification of tourism products that showcase both
cultural and agricultural dimensions. The study contributes to the theoretical and practical understanding of
post-COVID community-based tourism and serves as a reference model for other rural destinations seeking
sustainable recovery.
