The Guidelines of Development for a Cultural and Wisdom Learning Center: Chalae, Singhanakhon, Songkhla.

Abstract

The purposes of the present study were to develop Chalae community in Singhanakhon, Songkhla to be a cultural and local wisdom learning center, and to conserve the valuable architectural heritage of the community. The data were collected through field survey methods such as interview, note-taking, observation, and photographs. The obtained data were analyzed and synthesized in order to develop a design harmonizing local wisdom and context with design principles and theories. The design comprised of 2 parts— learning wisdom route and street furniture. The study led to the following pieces of work; (1) learning wisdom route including 3 learning principles—wisdom, history, and community products and elderly club, (2) learning leaflet, (3) street furniture including 2 unit of information board, 9 unit of directional sign, 1 design of flowerpot, 1 design of litter bin, 2 designs of Path light, 1 design of seat.
