    Is the Process of Making Mould and Cast Important to Model Sculpture?

    Abstract
    This research aims to study whether the process of making mould and cast important to model sculpture, to apply the result of the study for the improvement of the course syllabus in sculpturing field at POH-CHANG Academy of Arts, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin and to publicize the research findings to provide knowledge to the various institutes offering art program. The tool used in collecting the data was a questionnaire containing two parts. Part one asked about the autobiography of the selected sculpture experts. Part two described comments of the 35 experts who have expertise in sculpturing and who teach sculpturing art, and 35 sculptors including artists, sculptors, freelance sculptors and freelance artists in the filed of sculpturing. The research results show that a great sculptor should have the capability of making mould and cast with the score of the highest level of agreement of 77.14 %. The answers received from the respondents are relevant; it is very crucial to the sculptors and also helps in planning in the work procedure effectively. Pieces of work are finely, neat, perfect and close to the original and it is also helpful in saving cost. The sculptural works which have passed the casting process are close to the prototype. There is no need to ask the other sculptors subcontracting for the process of making mould and cast. The owners of the sculptural works themselves will understand the nature of their own works better than anyone. The processes of casting, assembling parts of sculptures, finishing the surface of sculpture and making mould and cast are important to the model sculpture, with the highest level of agreement of 70 %. The answers received from the respondents are relevant; the sculptural works which have passed the casting process are close to the prototype. It can help save time and cost in the processes of making mould. The process of work requires mutual relationship and reduction of the mistakes. There should be a course of making mould and cast for the students majoring in sculpturing with the score of level of agreement of 82.6%. The answers received from the respondents are relevant; the students have the opportunity to learn the process of making mould and cast and can apply knowledge from the course to their careers. It is very necessary for students in the sculpturing field to learn how to make mould and cast. The students should join the apprentice program during taking the course.
