The purposes of this study were to 1) investigate the number and frequency of vocabulary occurrences in English Course for Remedial Project Books, Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin 2) investigate teachers’ opinions and problems of teaching vocabulary in English Course for Remedial Project and 3) develop an activity to improve students’ vocabulary knowledge.
The tools used in this study were VocabProfile, a program for investigating number and frequency of vocabulary and a semi-structure interview form for investigating teachers’ opinions.
The results were revealed that the first 1,000 frequency words were found the most, 789 word families (79.1%). The next 1,000 frequency words were found 319 word families (7.2%). The academic words were found 186 word families (3.4%). Most teachers realize that vocabulary is necessary for students in higher education level and the teachers need to use planned activities or direct methods for improving students’ vocabulary knowledge. An application program which available on http://www.fine-arts.dx.am was created as a media for students to study vocabulary.
