From the Ground to The Vegetable Stall

Abstract

The thesis, "From the Ground to the Vegetable Stall," is created from the experiences of various supermarkets, where selling fruits and vegetables is sometimes a profession. It helps my grandfather water the plants and assists my mother in the vegetable business during school breaks. This success reflects the positive impact on myself and my daily life, witnessed by each member of the family. This led me to examine my grandfather's agricultural system, the pride he takes in his profession, and the fact that it provides him with a comfortable and prosperous life, free from hardship. The fruit and vegetable business, and the growing feelings associated with it, are reflected in my own vision and heart. "From the Ground to the Vegetable Stall" documents my journey of selling fruits and vegetables through art. I reflect on the wonder of my family's profession, the widespread availability of food and supplies, and the inspiration for this artwork. It portrays the producers themselves, evolving through the seasonal vegetables. The main concept is presented through the perspective of the vegetables themselves, considering their costs and observing seasonal prices. Sometimes, the emphasis is on using color in the most profitable parts of fruits and vegetables, while color is used sparingly in the shapes of the most profitable vegetables. This results in the appearance of black and white vegetables, representing less profitable produce, in the composition, based on real-time fruit and vegetable sales. I have increasingly chosen to review and arrange vegetables based on direct price investigation. Color, light, and shadow will most clearly reveal the value of the produce, from individual pieces to the family's consumption. This is conveyed through my thesis artwork using planographic printing techniques, specifically lithography.
