THE RENOVATION OF SPACE PLANNING AND INTERIOR ENVIRONMENT IN LIBRARY A CASE STUDY OF LIBRARY BUILDING, RAJAMANGALA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY THANYABURY
Abstract
This research has aimed to investigate recent problems, and requirements of library users. The findings
would be recommended, as guidelines for space planning renovation in line with the current behavior of the users.
The questionnaire was used to collect 4 factors consisting of the following: 1) Sufficiency of areas to use, 2) Clarity
of signage, 3) Appropriateness of space arrangement and decoration, and 4) Appropriateness of interior
Environments. 200 example groups were statistically analyzed. It can be concluded that the area for leisure
activities (e.g. chatting and eating snacks), IT Zone and individual study room and tables were insufficient in the
number of tutorial rooms that were also needed. Signage of fire exists and direction is unclear. Noise from the
relaxation zone, disturbs the study zone. The size of interior circulation is inappropriate, especially on the 3rd and
the 4th floor. These findings gave rise to the renovation of space planning, and interior environment in the library.
