    The Management of Cockfighting Government Licensed Stadium, Characteristics, Biodiversity and Income from Fighting Cock Business in Phatthalung Province of Thailand

    Abstract
    The objectives of this research are 1) to study the management status in cockfighting Government Licensed Stadiums 2) to examine the fighting cock biodiversity 3) to observe the value added process of cock fighting businesses in Phatthalung Province of Thailand. The sample group were collected in 2 parts, i) information form cockfighting Government Licensed Stadiums namely Sala Tum Soa, Si Banphoti and Srinakarin cockfighting stadiums ii) the distribution of questionnaire to 10 cock raisers who raised more than 10 birds with 6 months or older. The average of fighting cocks at Sala Tum Soa cockfighting stadium was 25.5 fights, at a time, while there were 31 fights at Si Banphoti cockfighting stadium and 45 fights at Srinakarin cockfighting stadiumat a time respectively. Statistic calculation was applied in percentage indicated that the color diversity were categorized into 10 groups namely; Kai-Leuang/Thong on, Kai Kheaw, Kai She/Kai Dhang, Kai Daeng, Kai Phirap/Nam-Thi, Kai Phra-Duu, Kai Lai, Kai Keium, Kai Kot and Kai Khem. The most common color was Kai She/Kai Dhang at 22.9 %. The body weight of fighting cock at respective stadium, Sala Tum Soa cockfighting stadium found between 2.68 – 3.70 kilograms and the average of weight was 3.25 kilogram, at Si Banphoti cockfighting stadium were 2.80 – 3.60 kilograms and the average was 3.24 kilogram, at Srinakarin cockfighting stadium were 2.70 – 4.20 kilograms and the average was 3.24 kilogram accordingly. The body weight of fighting cock in roster farms found between 2.70 – 4.00 kilograms and the average was 3.33 kilogram. The body weight of fighting cock which the farmer satisfied within range of 3.00 – 4.00 kilograms. Revenue from rearing gamecocks consists of income from chicken collisions between 3,000 to 50,000 Thai Baht/time, sales of fighting cocks (6 month old) 1,500-20,000 Thai Baht /bird and sales of chicken for cooking (local chicken) 70-75 Thai Baht/kilogram.
