The Patterns of Cultural Tourism of the Elderly in Bangkok
Abstract
This research is a qualitative research that aims to study the Patterns of Cultural Tourism of the
Elderly in Bangkok 1) study the cultural tourism model of the elderly and 2) study the cultural tourism
ability of the elderly. The data were collected by in-depth interview with accidental sampling were 19
elderly people who lived in Bangkok Province. Analyze data by analyzing interviews from audio recordings
and extracting audio data into text format. Including related to research support analysis.
The results revealed that most of the elderly would go to take part in the ceremony. Mostly,
they travel in long holidays and travel with family by private car or their friends from the charity group
tour. Period of travel had one day trip for cultural ceremony, about 2-3 days for stay overnight trip and
about 4-5 days. The objective of travel is for relaxing, making family relationship and learning different
cultures. Expense were 5000 - 15000 baht each time. Most of the money spent on travel is from personal
business, and money from grandchildren. And they asked their family or friends and read a book about
tourist attraction for information preparation. The problem is traffic jam, car parking and problems with
facilities such as parking for the elderly, ramp, railing, toilet, sign and pavilion.
