The Patterns of Tourism of The Elderly In Chumphon

Abstract

This research was qualitative research that aims to study travel patterns of the elderly in Chumphon Province. Studied about opinion of elderly tourists. The data was collected by in-depth interview method with key information were 16 elderly who lived in Chumphon Province. The tools of study were interview question guideline and voice recorder. The descriptive analysis was used in analyzing the data. The results revealed elderly female and male so popular tour is cultural tourism and religious tourism. Natural tourism and recreation tourism for health are popular respectively. Most had holiday vacation in travelling. The main purpose of tourism was relaxation, and learning new knowledge and experience for themselves. Together with built family relationships and travel by private car. Expenses were about 3,000 - 5,000 baht each time. Most stayed 2 days 1 nights to 3 days 2 night depend on travel patterns, and stay at resort nearby tourist attractions and downtown hotel on long holiday just 1 to 2 times per year. During the travel, family will arranged travel plan and accommodation to the elderly.
