This study aimed at investigating the quality and the result of using Mathematical skill and
process on mathematical problem solving test of grade nine students according to Biggs and Collis’ SOLO
Taxonomy. The sample of this research consisted of 172 grade nine students from 4 schools in Secondary
Educational Service Area 8, during the second semester of academic year 2016 by stratified random
sampling. The research instruments were a test consisted with 3 situations and 4 items for each and the
manual of test checking. The obtained data were analyzed by mean and standard deviation. The results
of this research revealed that: the validity level of the test was 1.0, the reliability level of the test was 1.0,
the difficulty level of the test was 0.36 - 0.42 and the discrimination level of the test was 0.2-0.46. These
meant that the test was at the acceptable criteria for measuring mathematical skill and process on
mathematical problem solving test of grade nine student according to Biggs and Collis’ SOLO Taxonomy.,
and the relation between the students’ marks and Biggs and Collis’ SOLO Taxonomy occurred in 10 forms
as follow: 0P = 0 mark at Pre-structural level, 1U= 1 mark at Uni-structural level, 2R= 2 marks at
Relational level, 3U= 3 marks at Uni-structural level, 3M= 3 marks at Multi-structural level, 3R= 3 marks at
Relational level, 3E= 3 marks at Extended Abstract level, 4M= 4 marks at Multi-structural level, 4R= 4
score at Relational level, and 4E= 4 marks at Extended Abstract level.
