Research-based Development for Supporting New Researcher ; Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin
Abstract
This research project has an objective to reinforce the ability of university researchers in conducting a
research for the benefits of local communities and to extract the lessons learned concerning the management
model on the development of RMUTR socially-engaged researchers for. The samples are composed of lecturers
and researchers who benefit from the research grant under Research Project for the development of RMUT
สาขามนุษยศาสตร์ สังคมวิทยาและการศึกษา I 133
socially-engaged researchers for the fiscal year 2015, which comprises 22 researchers and 22 research projects by
means of specific selection. Three modes of the researchers’ development are undertaken: 1) upstream stage:
develop the researchers so that they are capable to identify the problem and formulate it to the project
proposal, 2) mainstream stage: follow up the researchers throughout the process so as to understand the
problems and obstacles encountered in conducting the research and to find the common solutions, 3)
downstream stage: encourage the researchers to publish their research outcome through 3 practical trainings as a
research tool. Determiners used to assess the success of research project for communities comprise of 3
elements as follows;
1. Input factors: development of research problem corresponding with the needs of the communities,
formation of research team together with the local communities beginning from analyzing the problem,
developing research problem, promoting participation of research team from people with different backgrounds
and roles, preparation of the tea and distribution of work tasks, indicating common goals and visions for shortterm,
middle-term, and long-term
2.Process factors: follow up the summarized outcome of the data and verify the data by the research
team as well as the community regularly, management of the budget of the project in conformity with the
regulations, transparency and efficacy, meetings of research team to analyze the problems and a common action
plan continuously, as well as designing the tools for data collection which conform with the content and
research topics, presentation of the report both the drafted report and the final report consistently.
3. Outputs and Impacts of the Project: human development, knowledge management, network
formation, and reinforcement of community.
