Adaptation of Life in the Mangrove Forest

Abstract

Art Education Thesis: on the Adaptation of Life in the Mangrove Forest has a purpose to 1) study information about the mangrove forest ecosystem; 2) create paintings related to the impacts occurring in mangrove forests; 3) To design and produce educational media for learning. Creative Process and Research Hypothesis The creative process for the oil paintings is intended for high school students. The research hypothesis is that in creating this series of artworks, the researcher has explored various creative painting styles to use in the pieces and to fulfill the objectives of the series, " Adaptation of Life in the Mangrove Forest."Methodology The art education thesis process was divided into 4 steps as follows: 1) Studying, researching, and collecting information; 2) The creative process for the art thesis artworks; 3) The presentation of the art thesis artworks and 4) The creation and implementation of the educational media. The research found that 1) The results of the Data Study: The use of creative content in a 2D painting format, specifically, Landscape Painting, which expresses the state of mangrove forests affected by human encroachment, effectively conveys the consequences of human actions, particularly through the depiction of trash and the surrounding environment. 2) The results of the Creative Work: Two oil paintings were created related to the impacts in the mangrove forest, sized at 98 x 198 cm and 120 x 200 cm. The style of the works involved a color application method that creates a distinct relationship between the figure and the background. An underpainting was applied to control the atmosphere of the image, and colors were applied using the Brush Work method, which shows the texture of the brushstrokes. A palette knife was also used to apply the paint thickly. The color technique involved establishing a color structure and defining the color palette used. 3) The results of the Educational Media Production: The educational media was created using oil paint, a material suitable for conveying the mood and atmosphere of the paintings. This helps students understand the creative process and provides a guideline for their studies, including knowledge about landscape painting and art in the Realism and Impressionism styles.
