Operational Risk Management: A Case Study Autonomy University
Abstract
The objectives of this research were: (1) to study operational risk factors, (2) to
study operational risk incidents, (3) to study the level of operational risk, and (4) to
study the improvement of operational risk management. Conceptual framework was
based on Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission,
enterprise risk management (COSO ERM)
Purposive sampling technique was applied to select 5 employees of Autonomy
University to answer self-reported questionnaire for qualitative research. Stratified
sampling technique was applied to select 194 employees to answer self-reported
questionnaire for quantitative research. Data were analyzed by multiple linear
regression.
Research findings revealed that: (1) important operational risk factor were staff,
work system and not comply with Autonomy University regulations, (2) Important
operational risk incidents were unfair actions against employees and fraudulent activities
in the organization (3) operational risk level of Autonomy University was moderate, and
(4) good internal control and good governance should have been reviewed and
improved to ensure that risk management was efficient.
