    Abstract
    This thesis aims to study and recommend the guidelines on proper development of the area of Night Bazaar, Chiang Mai province. The study focused on the physical potential and trends in the development of the area. The factors caused by Chiang Mai development plan to increase the potential of commercial space, tourism and economic areas which affect the local were also studied. Moreover, the study aims to provide guideline on utilizing land to its fullest potential so that Chiang Mai can link its economic area with other northern provinces. The study found that Night Bazaar is a key area of commercials, tourism and economy of Chiang Mai. Although the community is affected by the increasing of tourism and commercial, it still maintains its unique Lanna culture. And Lanna culture is a key factor attracting both foreign tourists and Thai tourists to Chiang Mai. Other public transport projects including High Speed Rail Project Phase 2 Phitsanulok - Chiang Mai, mass transit project, the development of Chang Klan Mega Complex which aim to develop commercial spaces and tourism industry of Chiang Mai also will result in the development of the Night Bazaar area of Chiang Mai. From the study result leads to a guiding approach to develop and utilize the areas to meet the needs. Therefore the design lay the framework programme according to the concept. Specified in the preliminary details on the design of the project area. Development of commercial areas surrounding the light rail station. The station. Development areas Commerce and entertainment night bazaar. Development of public space along the Mae Kha and the Ping River. Thus, development and rehabilitation of the area to meet the tourism still maintains a unique look. Chiang Mai has a high potential in the development of the city in the future.
