Area Develoment To Transition Point Surat Thani Station

Abstract

This thesis aims to study the factors and trends of change in Phunphin District, Surat Thani because of the policy and plans that affect the development of the area of two-way train construction project Chumphon - Surat Thani High Speed Rail Project Phase 2 and to suggest for the development of Phunphin District for future rail transport. The study consists of the use of physical, economic, social and demographic data of Phunphin District And field survey data in order to know the area and land use of Phunphin District. Phunphin has started its settlement on the Tapi River. The role of the area at that time was a border checkpoint for people inspection and taxation. Later, when the southern railway, the road and the bridge over the Tapi River were built, this results in a connection to the surrounding area. The area is transformed into a railway transport center as a major transport link between the central and southern regions. As a result, the agricultural trade center has grown and the connection point of the major road and land transport network in Surat Thani province is nowadays. The area is potential as a regional transportation hub. It can support the expansion of the agricultural equipment business. The current state of the area is rapidly changing physically. The land use and density of buildings are increased. The environment of the city is deteriorated. It is considered that the city is entering the growth of the city due to the development of the area in the future with the project of the government and the areas are affected by the transportation projects. The area lacks serious development. The proposed regional development guidelines for regional transport should be based on the physical, economic and social development using urban development (Urban Redevelopment) as an appropriate approach to the development of infrastructure to support the development of future station transitions. It also serves as a hub for land transportation and the center of trade and service of Surat Thani.
