A Development of English Speaking skills of English for Everyday Use course for Industrial Management students, Wang Klaikangwon Campus

Abstract

This classroom research was carried out during the second semester in the 2013 academic year with 49 informants of third-year Industrial Management majors studying English for Everyday Use at Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin, Wang laikangwon campus. The purposes of the research were to study and compare their speaking skills and the informants’ attitudes toward this course. The experimental instruments consisted of 5 lesson plans treatment using English conversation. The data collection instruments were Pre-test, Post-test and the satisfaction survey toward the learning activities. The data obtained were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, and percentage. The findings were as follows: 1. The students’ English ability was higher after learning through English for Everyday Use course. The results revealed that there were significant differences at the 0.05 level. The posttest score in either case was higher than that of the pretest. 2. The students’ attitude was higher after learning through English for Everyday Use course, the survey results showed that all the 49 informants were very pleased with this course.
