Model of Universal Office Furniture Designed for the Disabled People of Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University by Using Analytic Hierarchy Process
Abstract
This research was conducted with these three objectives: 1) to study and develop a model of office furniture design for various types of the disabled, including being without legs, blind, or deaf; 2) to create unique designs on office furniture for the disabled use; 3) to produce a model of office furniture design for the disabilities faculty and staff and students of Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University. The participants in this study were 30 participants including 12 males and 18 females which are faculty and staff and students of Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University. The participants have different educational background from bachelor to doctor’s degree and have the average ages which are 18-60 years. The researcher employed an interview, observation, and questionnaire to collect data. Data collected from three instruments were analyzed. It was found that the participants rated the products “good” but commented on the safety of furniture and its utility. The results of rating furniture were used in designing, producing, and developing product based questionnaire’s responses.
