The objective of the research was to study the behaviors, problems, and difficulties of doing household accounts according to the philosophy of sufficiency economy for the purpose of solving debt problem for agriculturists in Prachinburi. The sample group was 146 agriculturists in Noen Hom, Muang district in Prachinburi. Questionnaire was used as the research device. Frequency, percentage, average and standard deviation were applied as the research statistics to analyze the data.
The results showed that the majority of people in the sample group were female agriculturists aged over 50 years old with primary school degree. The numbers of their family members were 4 - 6 people. Their average incomes were 4,001-10,000 baht, but their debt rates were around 10,001 - 50,000 baht. The debts were mostly caused by the agriculture expense.
In terms of doing household accounts, the majority of people in the sample group fairly knew how to do household accounts. Mostly, they learned how to do the accounts from government organizations. Their main purpose of doing the accounts was to control the family expenses. They did the accounts for 7-12 months and recorded them weekly. However, the difficulties found were caused by their illiteracy, lack of experience in doing household accounts, and no follow-up after the training from government staff. As a result, they did not do and record their household accounts continuously and regularly.
