Designing Wooden Pallet Furniture for Children Aged 3–5 to Use in the Kindergarten Classrooms at Tambon Ngewrai, Amphur Nakhon Chai Si, Nakhon Pathom
Abstract
This research was conducted with these three objectives: 1) to create useful designs on furniture made from pallet appropriate for children aged 3-5 in a kindergarten of Nakhon Pathom province; 2) to promote value-added pallet furniture and replace expensive wood; 3) to develop production technology and wood processing, and as well as to create a collection of pallet furniture. The participants in this study were 35 participants including 20 males and 15 females which are teachers, students, and parent’s students of Ngiurai school, Nakohn Pathom. The average ages of participants are 6-60 years. The researcher employ an interview and questionnaire to collect data. Data collected from those two instruments were analyzed. It was found that the participants rated the products “good” but commented on the furniture’s durability and required further instructional material and media for students’ learning. According to questionnaire’s responses, the results of rating furniture were used in designing, producing, and developing product based on the technique of woodwork to meet users’ needs. Morever, stakeholder of Ngiurai School, Nakohn Pathom received training in how to apply recyclable waste and grow awareness or environmental protection.
