Reflection Of Blue
Abstract
This art thesis project is inspired by mental health issues that have affected my
daily life, stemming from my environment, family, and the current state of society. The
conditions of stress and pressure from everyday surroundings have contributed to
building mental resilience and shaping attitudes toward the world around me.
Education, social interactions, and medical treatment have all played roles in balancing
brain chemistry. Meanwhile, healing and behavioral adjustments have been achieved
through artistic creation and the expression of thought processes. By using symbols
from nature to represent emotions and feelings such as lines, textures, movements,
and the direction of the sea these elements reflect abstract ideas and emotions.
The creation of my art thesis project, therefore, emerges from the visualization of
my subconscious, a confrontation between reality and an ideal world, represented
through images of ocean waves. These emotional movements are intangible,
indescribable, and formless purely abstract. To convey these concepts, I employed
the cyanotype technique, which utilizes sunlight to create imagery, referencing natural
processes, brain chemistry, and thought patterns. This is combined with the tangible
method of intaglio printmaking, specifically the etching technique, where surfaces are
corroded using chemical substances. These processes serve as key components in the
creation of my art thesis project.
