PERCEPTION OF PEOPLE IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE POLICY TO PREVENT AND REDUCE ROAD ACCIDENTS IN PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN PROVINCE
Abstract
The objectives of this research were to study the perception of people in the
implementation of the policy to prevent and reduce road accidents; compare the
perception of people in the implementation of the policy to prevent and reduce road
accidents classified by personal factors and type of vehicles used; and recommend the
appropriate approach to enhance the enforcement of the policy to prevent and reduce
road accidents.
This was a mixed research of quality and quantity. Quantitative research method
gathered the questionnaires from 30 licensed drivers. Sample size calculated by Yamane
concept, purposive and stratification random sampling were applied. Statistical tools
employed were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t- test, and One Way
ANOVA. Qualitative research method data collected by in-depth interview 15 policemen,
and content analysis.
Research findings were as follows; the perception of people in the
implementation of the policy to prevent and reduce road accidents was at a high level,
with the highest mean on communication; when comparing the people’s perception
differences were found among those with differences in ages, education level, types of
driving licenses, driving experiences and type of vehicles used at 0.05 level of statistical
significance, while no difference was found between those with different genders; and
should be educate and public relation of accident prevention to the young people.
