COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN WATER MANAGEMENT OF BANSALADHIN COMMUNITY, MAHASAWAT, PHUTTHAMONTHON, NAKHONPATHOM

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study the community participation in the water management; the water management problems and obstacles; and find the developmental guidelines on the community participation in the sustainable water management. The research methodology was qualitative research to study from the documents, theory, concepts and involved research, in-depth interview and non-participant observation to collect the data. The key informants are who accept 15 person were the leader and members of Ban Saladin Agricultural Water Using Community Enterprise and related government officials. Analyze data by Analytic Induction. The study found that; People in the community participated in decision making in their group. They jointly planned, analyzed problems, set the goals, developed, cooperate with the government sector and the private sector, participated in receipt of the benefits, and participated in evaluation of the implementation; the water management problems and obstacles of Ban Saladin Community, there was no cooperation from the related local state agencies and the monitoring and evaluation was not done in writing; and The developmental guidelines on the community participation in the sustainable water management were the community water management should be continuously done to make the water sources have better quality and the related state agencies should conduct the campaign for conservation and instill good attitudes towards environmental conservation into the community to enable the future generations to use clean water sources.
