ROLE OF LOCAL DEVELOPMENT LEADERS: A CASE STUDY OF SUB-DISTRICT AND VILLAGE HEADMEN ROLE IN SRIPRACHAN DISTRICT, SUPHANBURI PROVINCE
Abstract
The objectives of this research were to study the opinions of people on the role
of sub-district and village headmen according to the Act B.E. 2457 and additional
amendment; to compare the opinions of people on the role of sub-district and village
headmen classified by personal factors; and to study the relationship between the
characteristics of the leaders and the role of sub-district and village headmen.
The quantitative research methodology was determined, researchers have
gathered all questionnaires from 396 people who live in Sri Prachan District, Suphanburi
province, and analyze the data with computer by using the statistical program. Data was
analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation, Analysis of Variance:, t-test and
pearson correlation coefficient.
The results were as follows the opinions of people on the role of sub-district
and village headmen according to the Act B.E. 2457 were at a high level, and when
considering each aspect, it was found that the implementation of the official
announcement to the people was the most; the opinions of people with different
gender, marital status and occupation were not different, and the opinions of people
with different educational backgrounds and average income were different; and the
characteristics of the leaders and the role of sub-district and village headmen had a
positive relationship.
