dc.description.abstract | The objectives were to describe the characteristics of municipal waste management of
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA); to identify the problems of municipal waste management
of BMA; and to set up the proper implementation for municipal waste management of BMA.
The research employed qualitative methodology by evidence documentation, nonparticipant
observations, and in-depth interviews, and analyzed by data analysis.
The key informants were from administrators of BMA’s solid waste administration,
and government officers of solid waste administration of contract operators, in the total of 15 persons.
Results revealed that the solid waste administration operated by implementation plan
based on government policy, laws and regulations, 3Rs and Zero waste concepts; the solid waste
system was organized by community base solid waste administration concept; the literal directing
command; the government-private sectors coordination in implementation; and the controlled private
company or contractor by BMA; the barriers of BMA's solid waste administration included the increasing
population, public awareness for waste littering, and waste separation by type, comprising the
operators lacked the knowledge of new laws and regulations; and the BMA’s solid waste administration
approaches conducted by an effective plan and policy from all stakeholders for solid waste
administration from upstream, middle stream, to downstream; the improved capacity of organization
structure especially for the appropriate number of the officers with work load; the applicable
technology for the directing; stakeholders participation for the solid waste administration; and the
strengthened law and regulations. | en_US |
