dc.description.abstractThe objectives were to describe the characteristics of infectious waste management in Bangkok Metropolitan (BMA); to identify the problems of infectious waste management in BMA; and to set up the proper implementation for infectious waste management in BMA. The research methodology was qualitative method by data collection with in-depth interview and non-participant observation and identified by data analysis. The key informants from various sectors included BMA administrators for infectious waste management; Administrators and operators of infectious waste management in the Krungthep Thanakom. Co.,Ltd.; and operators for BMA’s infectious waste, in the total of 12 persons. Results indicated that BMA applied the Deming cycle for infectious waste management and hired the outsource operation in terms of waste collection and disposal system. The controlled contractor’s operation and the improvement were suggested by BMA; the infectious waste problems included; the whole system effected by traffic congestion; and healthcare centers generated high-amount infectious waste with the improper separation; the approaches for BMA’s infectious waste management included the increased infectious waste collection round; coordinated healthcare center for understanding and promoting the waste separation method; and high capacity in each process of infectious waste management for the hazard and prevention increased by all stakeholders.en_US
