PERSONNEL DEVELOPMENT OF THONBURI REMAND PRISON, A CASE STUDY OF MORALE BUILDING

Abstract

The objectives were to descript the characteristics of correction officers’ morale during work at Thonburi Remand Prison; and to offer guidelines for developing the morale of correction officers at Thonburi Remand Prison. This is a qualitative research by collecting data from various related documents, observations and in-depth interviews. The key interviewees were 15 correction officers who are working at Thonburi Remand Prison. Data is then analyzed by using content analysis method. The results of this research suggested that; the obvious characteristics of correction officers’ morale during work at Thonburi Remand Prison are comprised of in terms of assignments are successfully completed in time; in terms of respects; in terms of supervisors assign planed assignments and give independence in making decisions; and in terms of personal developments/advancements are depended on individual abilities which each department should supports and provide necessary trainings; and guidelines for developing the morale of correction officers at Thonburi Remand Prison are put the right man on the right job; make sure that criterion to promote (KPIs) are clearly understood by each individual correction officers; and improve working environment, etc.
