Quality of Life Migrant Workers
Abstract
The purpose of this study were 1) to study quality of migrant workers before
they came to Muang District, Chantaburi Province, Thailand, 2) to studytheir travel
processes, 3) o study their quality of life while working in Muang District, Chantaburi
Province, Thailand and 4) to study their ways of life.
A rating scale questionnaires and a semi-structured interview form were used a
tools of this study. Percentage one way analysis of variance and Spearman rank
correlation coefficient were used to scored and evaluate all data.
The study results reviewed that those migrant workers were farmers, gardeners,
employees or unemployed before coming to Muang District, Chantaburi Province,
Thailand. Most migrant workers came to Chantaburi Province because of the
recommendations of their friends or relatives. Some came to Chantaburi Province
themselves and some came to Chantaburi Province by agencies assistants. To consider
their quality of life, the payment is sufficient and fair. Their state of working, opportunity
of self-development, co-working environment, relationship between migrant workers,
personal rights, lifetime and progression and stability are in high level. Moreover, it was
found that genders, nationalities, ability are in high working durations affected their
quality of life.
