The purpose of this research is to study the alternative materials which can be used instead of Soapstone, by using technology in carving other materials. Starting with the process of creating 3 dimensions files of Thai Art Pattern in order to build a mold set for carving on 3 materials; Acrylic, Brass and Iron. In carving process, the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) is used for creating the molds. In decorating process, materials for Khon Mask and Sirapon are to be pressed inside the molds to create patterns and to test if the materials can be used instead of Soapstones, which are currently rare, also to find out if they can fit in right dimensions and meet the needs of Thai artisans. The experiment is performed by the experts. Three kinds of mold are tested. The results are discussed under the topic of quality of the molds. Some control group tested with the Acrylic mold. Questionnaires on the workshop day provided us data and details in conclusion that related to the satisfaction from the result. The result illustrated that the CNC can provide standard quality molds of 3 materials. The Acrylic mold is said to be the best material among 3. The reasons are the lower cost, the easier and quicker with more convenient of the use, and the same quality compared to Soapstones. The average of satisfaction is 4.49 or 89.77 %.en_US
