Development of Environment to Increase Effectiveness for Elderly Workers in the Workplace

This research is to study the development of the environment to increase work
efficiency for elderly workers in the workplace in Bangkok and metropolitan area around
Bangkok. In this research the sample group consists of 116 people including the
government employees, state enterprise employees, company workers, factory worker
and those involved in other areas. The result of research shows that 69 percent of older
workers in the workplace are female, 41. 4 percent of them is between the ages of 61
and over. 67 percent of the sample has a bachelor's degree qualification, 44. 8 percent
works as a company employee, and 37. 9 percent has work experience in the range of
31-4 0 years . From interviewing the sample it is found that the good health of that
person is important to help promote the good performance of personnel in the
elderly. The suitable environment for increasing work efficiency must be a work
environment that is safe for life and property of workers. There is a prevention of
accidents that occur from work as well as clean and hygienic working environment, no
dust, no loud noise which will result in good physical and mental health of the workers
and helps increase good work efficiency. In terms of increasing the efficiency of the
organization and management, it is found that the welfare and benefits can help
increase work efficiency. Having good welfare and benefits includes a medical promotion
extra money (bonuses) or providing scholarships for children together with development
and promotion of learning for employees. This can increase in the work efficiency of the
elderly workers in the workplace.
