Application of Graphical Method combined with Database System for Structural Analysis and Design Programming for Residence
Abstract
This research was to develop computer program for structural analysis and design which focused on reinforce concrete structure combined with steel structure by using visual basic 6.0 language. The developed program can be used for reinforced concrete incorporating with steel structure for the residence not exceeds 2 stories. The input data can be obtained from graphical input method. Finite element method was used for structural analysis and structural design under working stress design method with standard of EIT 1007-34 and two-way slab was designed under method 3 of EIT 9103 standard. The output can be shown the details of steel reinforcement including analysis and design data in both on screen and print out. According to program operation, the results of structural analysis and design in both by developed program and by hand were the same. The comparison of two-way slab design between by developed program and by VisStructure 4 program (commercial program) was different in which the quantities of steel reinforcement by developed program were smaller than that by VisStructure 4 program. However, the developed program can be sufficient safety design for the 2 stories of residence.
