The Participation in the Community’s Knowledge Management: A Study of Bamboo Embroidery In Coastal Area of Samut Sakhon Province

Abstract

This research which was on the community knowledge of Samut Sakhon Province had the following objectives; to explore the participation of community in the coastal erosion prevention; to study the knowledge management on the coastal erosion prevention and solving by slowing the waves; to investigate the relationship between the participation of community and the community knowledge management on such case; to search for the community knowledge management model by the participation of community in the coastal erosion prevention and solving by slowing the waves with bamboo embroidery. This research employed mixed methods. In the quantitative term, the questionnaires were used via 1,029 citizens. The statistical analysis consisted of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, canonical correlation, and path analysis. This was followed by qualitative research carried out with the use of interviews of 20 personnel concerned. The results revealed that the participation of community in coastal areas was at a moderate level; community knowledge management of erosion in coastal areas were not very high either; the participation of community had a very high positive relationship with community knowledge management in coastal areas; community knowledge management model by community participation needed to put an emphasis on mutual decision and cooperation.
