However, I have found that self-development does not proceed in a linear progression; rather, it is a process of recurrence and cyclical movement within the mind and psyche. This perspective aligns with existentialist thought (Existentialism), which suggests that human beings constantly confront uncertainty, conflict, and questions about their own existence. This body of work, therefore, seeks to explore and reflect the internal state of “Inward steps” which does not merely signify forward movement, but also encompasses returning, becoming stuck, and striving to break free from one’s own constraints. I present these ideas through a socially reflective perspective, using personal experience as the basis for interpretation. It focuses on presenting objects and atmosphere as symbols that can evoke memories of the past. This stems from personal experiences living in my grandparents' home as a child, a place filled with warmth and cherished memories. Later, I traveled far from home and family for my studies. Seeing objects and atmospheres similar to those of the past evokes feelings of nostalgia, recalling past times, people, and meaningful relationships. This results in a yearning and desire to return to that happy and comfortable environment. The work is created using intaglio printing and etching techniques, employing a still-life composition combined with texture creation, light, and shadow to convey realism and an atmosphere that reflects inner emotions. The objects in the painting are not merely ordinary things, but represent memories, attachments, and life experiences that connect the past and present. In a world where connections are easily established, certain emotions gradually withdraw into deeper, less accessible spaces, leaving behind a silence that is rarely, if ever, fully acknowledged. In this body of work, solitude does not appear as an abrupt emptiness; rather, it manifests as a state that slowly permeates, accumulates, and takes form over timelike a shadow that never truly disappears, but merely shifts its position throughout the course of life. It is not simply the absence of others, but the coexistence with something that resists clear articulation. It is a silence that is not empty, but instead filled with what remains unspoken. Withing this perception, the work does not seek to narrate, but instead chooses to “allow something to remain.” Through depictions of interior spaces, objects, and still light and shadow, seemingly empty environments become imbued with traces of presence, while ordinary objects transform into witnesses of unexpressed emotions. The purpose of this art thesis is to explore the act of consuming food, considering not only its taste but also its nutritional value and presentation. The ambiance and arrangement of food, as well as the dining environment, play crucial roles in enhancing the dining experience. Additionally, the diversity of flavors across different cultures and communities, influenced by local customs and environments, further enriches the culinary experience. In creating this series, I aim to depict realistic-looking food, emphasizing its appearance and colors to make it more appetizing. Using elements of art, I incorporate the principles of composition to create lifelike representations of food. Moreover, I utilize the imagery of enjoying food with beloved pets as a symbol of the dining experience.
